It is nearly to May. As ususal, in May will be lots of event regarding Pesta Kaamatan ^^ A lil bit of introduction bout the aramatii event.
Pesta Kaamatan is one of the KadazanDusunMurut celebration. It is also known as Harvest Festival. As the farmer will give thanks for the day to harvest the parai. Besides that, there are story about the Pesta Kaamatan. It is about the pure love of one girl towards her parents and the people in the village. The sacrificing was to save her beloved family and villagers from hunger. She was known as HUMINODUN. I live with the story that Huminodun was a beautiful lady with a gentle heart and full with kindness. She indeed was a loyal daughter. As she sacrifice herself, plants started to bud and sprout all the lands. Then, there's lots of plant for the people to eat. The first Harvest had been make by her father in memorizing the goodness and love of Huminodun. (^^,)
This legend didn't end just like that as for years the Pesta Kaamatan will be also held the UNDUK NGADAU competition or can say as Kaamatan Beauty Peagent. Unduk Ngadau had become the main event in Harvest Festival Celebration and also known as acara kemuncak Kaamatan. Actually Unduk Ngadau born from the legend of Huminodun. As it reflect not only physically but the beauty of inner soul in Huminodun. So, the Unduk Ngadau contestant were among the KadazanDusunMurut girl who will represent their kampung and daerah to the state level. Kaamatan in state level will be held at KDCA usually started on 29 - 31 May. All the beauty from every region will compete in the hall. The winner will be crown as the new Huminodun of the year. She will hold the title till next year, where a new Huminodun will be crowned.
For me, I think the State Level Unduk Ngadau is one of the way to improve one self esteem. How? Because in this competition, one need to compete with beautiful ladies from every region in Sabah. But, one didn't not only depends on their outer beauty but also beauty from the inner soul. One need to have the confidence to be sociable with others, to be friendly, to be Independence, to be flexible and how to reflect herself as the winner from her region. How to show their love in every aspect. How to show the intelligence and talent diligently. All of the aspect was a reflect from Huminodun, one beautiful lady, with a pure heart, full with wisdom, loyal and kindness. (^^,)
